Thesis : Financial markets in the era of stranded assets
To meet climate objectives, capital flows must be massively redirected. However, investment decisions made in financial markets continue to provide social ante-validation to business as usual. This mismatch leads to the emergence of a stock of "stranded" assets that risk premature devaluation. Indeed, projects that are not compatible with climate objectives could see their profitability compromised by ambitious regulatory policies that would have an impact on the flow of repayments or dividends. My thesis seeks to determine (1) the extent of this phenomenon on financial markets; (2) the factors that may explain this growing misalignment (3) the possible regulatory policies to address it.
